How long can a puppy be left alone?
A young puppy is not ready to spend many hours alone all at once. Independence should be taught gradually while respecting toilet, rest and social needs.

What to know
Start with very short absences when the puppy is calm and increase gradually. A newly arrived puppy needs time to feel secure; crying, panting, escape attempts or inability to settle indicate the step was too large.
